Product Description
All accessory electronics delivered by STEINBAUER
are based on a single principle: 100% independence of the hardware module from the vehicle’s own control electronics by means of an original STEINBAUER plug connection.
This provides a number of different advantages:

Trademark
To prevent a mix up of our products with products of bad quality or other manufacturers and distributers, we registered the trademark and apllied for a trademark in several other European countries.

Execution
We attach great importance to supply the highest level of quality possible for our electronic moduls and the connectors.
All contacts used by STEINBAUER are of original manufacturer quality. This is ensured by gold contacts and waterproof connector and case sealings.
These standards cause increased production costs, but also avoid contact problems which could be caused by splash water or frequent engine carwashes.
This is very important to STEINBAUER, because our add-on electronics were developed with the best possible security-characteristics.
In case of electronic defects the STEINBAUER add-on electronic is out of operation, there won’t be any harm caused to the engine and the car continues with its original power (this is very important for business drivers or for long trips).
Furthermore we would like to mention, that the power enhancement can be switched on and off if an additional switch on the dashboard has been installed.
During the construction period we have already considered the electromagnetic compatibility, so it is possible for us to integrate such complex electronics in impact resistant ABS-plastic housings, since metal or aluminium housings become unattractive due to the climatic conditions within shortest time.

TUV Certificates
For power tuning of a car the legal authorities require verifications regarding power performance, exhaust emissions and operating noise.
Law requires that the vehicle has to be presented with all changes of the relevant components to a mechanical expert, eg.: TÜV Austria. Extensive tests are the basis for issuing a certificate.
With this certificate the vehicle owner is able to have the backfitting registered at the responsible office of the regional government. By the registration the operating license for the vehicle is restored or rather new given.
We would like to point out the possible consequences if you do not register the backfitting of your car into the document of permission:

Wear
Power reserves of the engine:
Although the power increase is clearly perceptible for the driver, the STEINBAEUR power enhancement is within the power reserve of the mechanical components of all cars (Gearbox!!!)We do not overdue it, so there is still some reserve on those involved parts.
Of course, every performance increase causes a higher wear, but handling such a car with brains can extend the longevity of your vehicle dramatically.

Consumption
The fuel consumption is mainly influenced by the style of driving. If a tuned car is driven very sporty, a little increase of the fuel consumption must be expected. If the car is handled almost like before the tuning was installed, even if the higher performance is used for acceleration and overtaking, fuel consumption remains almost original, under certain circumstances consumption may even decrease.
Additionally the use of special air filters can lead to reduced fuel consumption due to higher air mass and therefore more efficient combustion of the fuel.
But keep in mind:
Continuos use of increased performance paired with lower fuel consumption at the same time is not realistic. People telling you something different, do not have any technical understanding of this specialised know-how.

General questions about STEINBAUER products
Is a guarantee issued on the STEINBAUER Power Module?
For the production of all STEINBAUER products we exclusively use high-quality components, therefore we issue a 3 years’ guarantee to exchange units, appropriate usage and correct installation provided.
Has the power enhancement a negative impact on the engine?
The power increase of the STEINBAUER electronic is clearly perceptibly for the driver of the tuned car, although the enhancement is within the power reserve of engine, gearbox etc.
That means you can enjoy the improved performance of your car with no effect on its longevity and long term reliability.
Are there any changes of the brake necessary?
No, you don’t need to modify the brake.
Are there some particularities for vehicles with automatic-transmission?
No, you can use the STEINBAUER Power Enhancement also for vehicles with automatic-transmission.
Do I have to consider an increase of fuel consumption?
Please consider a low increase of fuel consumption in case of quite fast driving (between 0.3 and 1 ltr. at maximum depending on type of vehicle and weight).
If you maintain your manner of driving (also when you are using the power enhancement, in case of overtaking for example), you can expect the same or in some cases even a lower fuel consumption.
Do I have to register the power enhancement??
For the legal use of STEINBAUER modules you are legally bound to register it and insert the data into the car documents. A violation of this legal restrictions is up to the customer’s own responsibility and risk.
STEINBAUER Tuning Technologies Austria GmbH always makes efforts to provide the required TÜV-certificates.
Is it possible to undo the tuning?
Yes, it is.
The simple unplugging of the STEINBAUER module makes your car original again.
What about service intervals?
The standard service intervals remain unchanged.
May I switch on and off the STEINBAUER module?
With an optional remote control you can also turn off the STEINBAUER Power Enhancement while you are driving.

Results
Cars equipped with the STEINBAUER Performance Enhancement show a lot higher torque at lower engine speed. With STEINBEUR the driving comfort increases, frequent gearchanging reduces to a minimum, original driving performance can be achieved with lower gas pedal travel. At top speed the power reduces to almost original performance, therefore the top speed is only increased by about 10 km/h.
The original characteristic - the slow turning engine - of modern diesel engines is supported and it is becoming unnecessary and useless to keep the rpms at high level.
STEINBAUER minimizes or even elimates may existing turbo lags.
The higher torque is present at all time, therefore overtaking, accelerating and sporty driving is available at any time.
But keep in mind: Driving sporty causes higher fuel consumption.
Our style of tuning enables a more sporty and convenient use of cars as well as the possibility of saving fuel. Both is not possible at the same time, even if so called tuning professionals promise such fairy tales.

Maintenance
Using a tuned car with common sense does not increase any needs of regular maintenance. If the car is used very sporty, we recommend a shortened oil change interval and the use of first class oil quality.
A damage of the engine due to a lack of oil (oil film in the engine) leads to a loss of any warranty claims.
Using ceramic engine coating products may also extend the lifetime of the engine.
